5 Fire Safety Training Tips

Fire Safety Tools such as extinguishes and fire blankets won’t help unless you’ve conducted Fire Safety Training. We’re here to help.

While a blog post can’t match the educational quality of a real-life fire safety training course, that doesn’t mean we can’t depart some wisdom to help you further understand the relevant fire safety tools.

Fire safety training is strongly recommended for all, so in case of emergency, occupants can remain calm and act swiftly. Below are 5 key tips to keep in mind should you need to operate fire safety equipment.

The Fire Triangle

The fire triangle refers to the three elements responsible for producing and maintaining a fire. These elements are oxygen, heat, and fuel. If any of these elements are removed, the fire ceases. The best way to prevent this chemical, exorthermic reaction is to keep your fuel sources and ignition sources are far away from each other as possible.

The 5 Fire Extinguisher Types

Believe it or not, behind that red casing, not every fire extinguisher holds the same liquid. There are different extinguishers for different types of fires. For example, a wet chemical extinguisher is required for deep fat fryer fires. The 5 different types are water, foam, dry powder, CO2, and wet chemical.

The Main Causes of Indoor Fires

To truly learn fire safety, it’s worth knowing how/where most indoor fires start. The three biggest culprits are – unattended cooking, heating equipment, and electrical faults/faulty wiring.

Fire Door Upkeep

Fire Doors need to be inspected more than you might think reasonable. UK Fire Research discovered that over 61% of fire doors have smoke seals missing, weren’t installed properly, or the perimeter gaps weren’t filled.

You Don’t Smell Smoke When Asleep

Yes, a smoke alarm is the fastest way to alert everyone in the building that there is danger, but did you know smoke alarms have another crucial role? When you’re asleep, you don’t actually smell smoke, so an alarm will significantly improve escape chances.
